The nameless March
a pack of threatening shiny beings are circling around you, what do you do?
Let me take a moment to welcome all of you new humans who joined this niche, brain-cluttered corner this past week or so! Itβs a rare event to see such movement here!
As our village is getting more populated I coincidentally present to you my most populated piece yet!
I hadnβt count before but we now know this painting depicts 9 beings (1 very partially). My max was 2 until now. Interesting (ish).
Unsurprisingly, because of the amount of bare bodies, this piece took quite a few passes before the final sketch ended onto the final page. These you are seeing are the last 2 of them.
and now we are ready to paint!
For once (very rare) I knew what colours I wanted this piece to be. I actualy knew the colours even before I had the idea for the subject(s).
I wanted pain-inducing red, a deep blue and a porcelain white! This Work in progress babe on top was my favourite. Underneath you can see it completed!
Once I was done I changed my mind about the background shade at least three times, which was deeply annoying since I had to repaint it over and over, being extra careful not to destroy any baby puttini in the process.
Ultimately though this is what I picked!
And here it is in all of its majestic circling.
As usual I started the piece not knowing why I was picking the subject that I picked.
I wouldnβt be able to tell you what this means fully, I have a hint of a possible meaning but I am not going to investigate any further. Iβll hear it when Iβm ready to hear it.
I would love to hear your thoughts about what you think this could mean for you! If you made it all the way to the end and feel like taking a moment to look into yourself let me know what this painting say to you!
Throughout the years I noticed that many people tend to feel conscious about voicing their inner feelings about a piece of art because they feel βignorantβ or βsillyβ.
Though is actually quite easy because looking at a piece you either feel something or you donβt. If you donβt feel anything you move on, if you feel something it means you have something to say about it. There are no wrong answers, really. It doesnβt have to make sense!
Anyway if I get sidetracked into this I will end up writing for too long.
Have a nice week!
I am going back to recover from my 3rd cold of the year and think of what to make before the year ends! πΉβ¨
Talk soon,
Aleπβ¨

my anxiety and dissociation is resonating a lot with this piece so i think this is a good representation of those feelings xD
It's beautiful. I love the color combo. It actually made me instantly think of Jean Fouqet's painting, "Virgin and Child" with the same color pallet. I thought it might be inspired by his, and updated to reflect a contemporary woman, a real life woman, who might feel anxiety rather than honor for a god to make her a virgin mother.
I also think there could be many ways to interpret the colors and imagery, but it definitely feels like it's about anxiety and vulnerability.
