If you follow me on Substack app (thank you) you may already know from my notes but I have being abroad (in Cyprus) for 2 weeks and Iβll be here 2 more!
I have no wifi in our place and I also didnβt bring my pc so I did not have any chance to post but here I finally am.
Itβs been very socially and creatively chaotic since I returned between these 4 walls I left in 2021 BUT thatβs for another post to tell, my present creative endeavours are still in very early stages.
Instead I want to share with you what I have done in July before coming here, 75% while sick with fever (I was very bored and resentful).
In my pursue of complete mastering of all arts I resurrected these metallic sheet I had since 2016 and decided that I have to emboss them.
I am not completely sure what possessed me to transport these metal sheet from London to Cyprus and from Cyprus to Bologna but apparently, 9 years later, it turned out to be a great idea.
These are the initial sketching phase, if we can call it as such (and we will).
I only wanted to focus on the technique and not too much on ideas so I dug into my old sketchbooks of unfulfilled ideas and picked a few cute designs from there.
This is the back of design n.II (looks pretty from the back!).
What I am doing, basically, is digging into the soft metal with that tool I donβt know the name of until the volumes came to be the way I want. Very detailed tutorial, I know, you are welcome.
These are the 3 Iβve done so far to get used to the material, elegantly displayed onto my catβs doormat.
hereβs a detail of n.I (I love him)
n.II (do not leave her alone in your apartment)
n.III I find this one extremely satisfying.
egg is perfections, egg is holy.
Hereβs before I added an aged effect so the lines could show better!
And thatβs about it for now, I hope the wifi works, but it probably did since you are here to read this, yay!
As i mentioned Iβm starting a lot of new things here (none of them practical choices) so youβll hear from me soon!
Ciao ciao, for now,
Aleπ€
I love egg :-)
